persuasive book fair letter to mrs. skrovan
Students in the fourth grade can partipate in a persuasive, letter writing contest. Fourth graders are trying to persuade Mrs. Skrovan to add their name to a drawing for a free book coupon at the upcoming Book Fair. (Coupon is worth $5.) Three names will be chosen. Mrs. Holz has agreed to give an extra credit (an extra 100 in writing) to those students who partipcate. Letters are due November, 17th. Winners will be announced on Monday, December 1st, the first day of the Book Fair. The link is provided below. Letters can be handwritten if students do not have access to a computer.

Young American poetry digest
- Haiku is the featured poetry for the 2015 edition.
- All poetry is encouraged, however, poems cannot be more than 80 words in length.
- Multiple poems may be submitted, but each student is limited to one page of poetry.
- Haiku - A short poem of seventeen syllables. Arranged in three 5-7-5 syllable phrases.
- Haiku poems attempt to capture a mood or feeling.
- The ten schools submitting the most poems for publication will receive a $100 award.
- All poems must be completed by Friday, March 6th.
- Submit poems one of two ways: Poem may be typed or handwritten. All poems must be submitted to Mrs. Skrovan no later than March 6th. If you are typing the poem, please email your submission to [email protected].
- If your poem is selected, you will be notified individually and written parental permission will be required to print the poetry.
